The Black Heroes of Mathematics Conference will take place from October 7-8 at the International Centre for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS) in the city Edinburgh in the UK, and the conference will take place with a hybrid format for in person and virtual attendees. This is the 5th annual BHOMC, with the first being held in 2022. The conference was started by Dr. Nira Chamberlain, the President of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications. The event was largely inspired by the work of NAM and resources on Black Mathematicians like the MAD Pages. The Vision of the conference is ‘To celebrate the inspirational contributions of black role models to the field of Mathematics and Mathematics Education’ with a focus on black mathematicians from the UK, but also including the US, Africa, and the Caribbean. There will be a balance of technical talks in mathematics and mathematics education, as well as speakers that will share about their journeys into mathematics and work doing outreach. Registration is free and there will be a global group of participants joining over Zoom.
